Where is Fall?
Richness. The first sip of Jack on the rocks. The slight sting. The cool beers going down. The change of venue, plates and linen napkins suddenly in front of us. Lamb curry, strips of succulent meat in red sauce. Mounds of white rice. Chicken with peppers, thick slices of onion, garlic. Crispy egg rolls. The welcome of ice water with slices of lemon. The warm night requiring ceiling fans, open windows. Feeling so far away again from autumn...

hmmm... lovely. Portland was muggy and hot last week, and it was so strange. I felt sad, taking out the t-shirts and summer-weight skirts again. I wanted sweaters. Cool breezes. Dry air.
