Time to Clean
In preparation for the wedding, I've been treating myself extra well, and much of this includes food. Dairy, meat, and eggs have been mostly eliminated from the everyday menu. This makes eating out a little more difficult, which is a boon in disguise. And as Stephen reminded me this morning, we just don't live in a mecca of healthy food (at least, not in our immediate neighborhood. We know where to go outside the 'hood, though!). Yesterday I made a simple kitcheri of mung beans, basmati rice, and a 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, cumin and coriander, with healthy sprinkles of cayenne, black pepper and some tamari. I could live on kitcheris, with additions of different vegetables in each serving.
Still perusing the latest cookbooks we received in December...the newest being the Marshall Fields Cookbook from Andrea and John. Pot pies galore!
Also on the food radar: wedding food. We'll be placing our orders soon!
